Next to ice cream, waffles are one of the synonyms of summer. Who do they associate with a holiday trip? Fortunately, preparing them at home, in a slightly healthier version, turns out to be very simple. How to make great waffles?

What do you need to make waffles?

You can make them from virtually any flour and thanks to whipping the foam from proteins you do not need to add baking powder to the dough. All you need is a moment of mixing, a few additions and you can enjoy the taste of summer all year round!

Crunchy waffles are also a great idea for breakfast or a delicious dinner. Just in case, do more, because they will definitely disappear in the blink of an eye!

A simple waffle recipe

You will need:

  • 2 cups of wheat flour
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 1-2 tablespoons of fine baking sugar
  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) of sunflower oil
  • 2 eggs (yolks separated from whites)

Heat the waffle iron to the required temperature. Depending on the waffle iron, the time and temperature to which it heats is different.

In a larger container, mix flour, milk, baking powder, salt, sugar, oil and egg yolks (e.g. with a blender). Proteins beat to a stiff foam and mix very gently with the dough.

Pour a portion of the dough into a hot waffle iron and bake for about 2-3 minutes, until browned and crunchy. Cool on the grill. Serve with whipped cream or with your favorite toppings.

Oatmeal waffles

Oatmeal waffles are an alternative to traditional waffles made from wheat flour. They are crunchy and taste great with jam and whipped cream, although people on a diet would recommend serving them with natural yogurt and fruit. You will need

  • 100 g oat flour (you can also change oat flakes for flour)
  • 200 ml almond milk
  • 2 eggs
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 flat teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon xylitol
  • 1 teaspoon of rapeseed oil for the dough + a little to grease the waffle iron

Lightly grease the waffle iron and pour in a portion of the dough. Check if the waffles get browned. Take it out when you feel that their color meets the expectation of an ideal waffle.

Whipped cream for waffles – how to make?

Prepare 250 ml of well-chilled 30% or 36% cream, sugar and any flavors.

Half an hour before making the whipped cream, put the mixer tips and the bowl in which you will whip the cream (preferably metal) in the fridge. Pour cold cream into a chilled dish and beat for 30 seconds at low speed. After this time, increase the speed to the highest and beat until the cream becomes stiff and the mixer tips leave clear marks in it. If you want to get a sweet or flavored whipped cream, at the end of mixing add sifted powdered sugar and / or flavorings and mix until completely combined with the cream. Be careful not to whip the cream for too long, as this may lead to it brewing (as a result, the cream will not be suitable for serving). The best method is to carefully observe its consistency and stop mixing when it reaches the desired stiffness.

Whipped cream is best consumed on the same day.
