Hitched! A Café-Inspired City Wedding

AJ and Malia are one of our favorite couples. Ever. We laughed so much during the planning process and our styles aligned perfectly. They envisioned a dreamy and romantic café-inspired wedding in Seattle so we compiled a stellar team to make it happen! Each detail was thoughtful and reflected them as the beautiful couple they are. What’s better: they entrusted us to surprise them with the look and final feeling, so we went to town creating their own private café celebration.

Sunny hues came into play and warmed up the slightly chilly March day. We stopped by Pike Place Market to forage for the flowers – from the canary daffodils to the local ferns and sherbet parrot tulips, each bloom had a starring role.

We always say that location is key so when we were looking for the perfect spot for the ceremony and reception we looked for a blank canvas with an urban feeling that we could warm up. Melrose Market Studios was perfect! Nina from Just Milled set the tone with Kraft paper invitations and whimsical graphics.

We dressed the Studio up with market lights, a mix of square and round tables for a true eclectic bistro setting for dinnertime, and assorted plants, vases, bottles, and candles to provide a sense of warmth and intentional mismatching. It was a hit!

Hey, there’s one of the steel marquee signs Nick made!

Sometimes an eclectic look speaks volumes. A contrast of colors and Kraft paper can look romantic and well-coordinated, but not overly matchy. Punch up centerpieces with unexpected textures like chicken wire and kale.

We had fun sourcing 130 dish towels {yes, towels!} that graced each place setting with a menu perched above. How’s that for a bistro feeling?

We have to mention how incredible the food was. Just out of this world. Thanks to Lisa Dupar and team for the fresh menu! Everything was so stellar and on par with the market vibe. Kudos to everyone who jumped on board!

Aleah and Nick, you two are quite the creative and imaginative duo! I love seeing how this all came together for Malia and AJ. The steel marquee sign is awesome, wow! And finding the perfect dish towels for her… so personalized and cool. Laurel – the pictures are beautiful. Thank you. — Nina
