Inspired: A French-Kissed Holiday Lunch

Good morning, good morning! How was your weekend? Did you spend Sunday watching the Superbowl? Ours was fun-filled and busy filled with Seattle client meetings and some photo shoots at one of our favorite venues there; Palace Ballroom. Think huge industrial windows and rustic old exposed brick paired with our eclectic designs that we can’t wait to share. We also managed some tapas and an evening of watching Flamenco dancing and dinner at a sweet little French cafe. It was perfect and the weather was beyond gorgeous, which {growing up in Seattle} was quite unusual, but we’ll take it! We’re happy to be back in San Diego and to kick off a wonderful February week with a lovely French-inspired holiday celebration from our talented friend Steph from Bubble Rock in New Zealand. We think you’ll love it just as much as we do.

Steph muses:  In New Zealand, our Christmases are in summer – so often it is a BBQ lunch, cold beers and it becomes a very “Kiwi” affair. This year, I wanted to bring a little bit of a French touch to it all and make it a French Summer white, blue and silver Christmas lunch.

I went on the hunt for the perfect tablecloth and found a white and blue stripey one that just made me think of elegant, long lunches under the trees back home in France… So that was it: it just basically drove the whole concept.

With a few white pitchers as vases, some lace and strings to bring some elements of rustic, and some red paper napkins to tie in the Christmas theme, I was set.

I chose some bright blue hydrangeas from the garden and complemented with some white flowers to keep it simple and elegant.

And for fun, I made some individuals chocolate mousse in nice red paper cups with tiny wooden spoons – they were gone in minutes.
We’re loving the color story: darling red and white stripes paired against pale blue? Love! And those little cherry red clips? Sweet!
The textures in the centerpieces are reminiscent of a bouquet plucked from a summer garden…
Delicious!
After planning my wedding last year, I just totally fell in love with the art of entertaining and always feel I want to make every little lunch or dinner that little bit special. It doesn’t have to be complicated, it just has to make you feel a little special, every time.
Thank you so much for sharing your holiday with us, Steph! So…are you inspired by this sweet color story and details?
